FL Medicaid to Extend Coverage of Lung Transplants to Adults

Medicaid will cover lung transplants for all its recipients in Florida under legislation signed by Gov. Jeb Bush.

Medicaid previously only covered lung transplants for children before Bush signed the bill named after Jennifer Knight, a 20-year-old woman with cystic fibrosis who will need a lung transplant within the next few years.

"Lives will be saved at a minimal expense, given the value of life," said Bush. "Jennifer brought this idea to attention of lawmakers and I'm very pleased and proud of the fact that they seized the moment."
