Utah Jazz Player Donates Kidney to Sister

National Basketball Association center Greg Ostertag was reported recoverying well after donating one of his kidneys to his 26-year-old sister, and surgeons said they fully expected him to be ready when the Utah Jazz open training in October.

The 29-year-old Ostertag had the kidney removed at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas where it was transplanted into his sister Amy Hall, a diabetic whose own kidneys failed three months ago. (See earlier Transplant Week story).

"It just clicked, it couldn't have gone better," surgeon Robert Goldstein said. "It's already working wonderfully."
