Watchdog Group Finds Yogurt Ad Offensive to Organ Donors

A British advertising watchdog group has ordered Yoplait Dairy Crest to stop using an ad for the yogurt beverage Yop after complaints that the advertisement was offensive to families of organ donors and people seeking transplants.

The ad shows a courier sitting on the curb next to a parked motorcycle with a box on back labeled "Urgent Human Organ for Transplant." In the ad, labeled "Quench Your Hunger," the courier appears to be picking an organ out of another box and preparing to eat it.

Britain's Advertising Standards Authority, an industry-created group which has authority to pull ads, said it had received 10 complaints about the ad, which ran in the magazine Maxim. Yoplait Dairy Crest said the ad was intended "to point out the bad eating habits of young men, not portray real-life situations."
