The family of a Palestinian shot dead in East Jerusalem donated
his organs to provide transplants for 2 Arabs and 3 Jews, according
to doctors.
Mazen el-Djulani, 34, a chemist from East Jerusalem, was shot
at point-blank range last week as he sat in a cafe. It was not
clear whether his murder was related to the recent upsurge in
Arab-Israeli violence.
His grieving family gave its consent to donate his organs to
an Israeli organ bank. One of his kidneys went to a 13-year-old
Palestinian, and his lungs, liver, other kidney and pancreas went
to three Jews and another Arab, sources said.
