Organ Preservation Award Presented to Sherwood Hall

The International Society for Organ Preservation (ISOP) has awarded the F.O. Belzer Lifetime Achievement Award to Sherwood Hall of Atlanta, Georgia for outstanding service to the field of transplantation and organ preservation.

Hall, who retired in 1991, was described as instrumental in installing and training surgeons and technicians on Waters Medical Systems' kidney preservation systems that were first introduced in 1971.

The F.O. Belzer Lifetime Achievement Award is named for the late Dr. Belzer from the University of Wisconsin, whose work on organ preservation spanned four decades. Devices, solutions and techniques developed under the guidance of Belzer are used by virtually all transplant centers around the world.
